We want to stay excited about the very thing we love to do!
As therapists, yoga teachers, activists, agency workers or healers we want to stay excited about the very thing we love to do. We want to avoid hating what we do to make this a better world for all. It might be difficult to accomplish it when seeing tragedy and pain every day.
Some of the things you might begin to feel as part of the continual exposure to others' traumatic experiences are forgetting about your own self care, becoming reactive, having a negative perspective on life as well as feeling tired and overwhelmed. This work is hard and has not meant to be done in isolation. It is necessary to find the support you need if you attempt to be of help to people in distress long term.
In our work together you can.....
- Consult on complex cases when you suspect trauma is playing a role in the relationships, behaviors and symptoms clients are presenting. As a consultant, I will listen to the struggles you face in your work with clients without judgement. We will discuss your clients and your own emotional responses to the dynamics playing out in your work in order to promote self awareness for you and your clients.
- Consult on yoga practices to improve your own self care taking into consideration your unique interest and needs.
- As a therapist, activist or healer, maybe you decide you are ready for your own therapy. You want to process your own reactions to your family, workplace and clients. This is one of the greatest self care gift.
- Consult on the needs of your organization, dynamics and internal conflicts of its members that impede the progress of the mission of the organization. I will use my training in human behavior, group dynamics and community organizing to strategize with you on how to best approach your organization's needs, suggest specific interventions, improve communication processes and collaborate in implementing changes to tackle the difficulties the organization is facing.
